With the release of MDaemon 9.0 in mid-March, prices for MDaemon and RelayFax will increase for new purchases and upgrade protection renewals. The new pricing schedule is available on the Alt-N web site.

This is the first price increase for MDaemon since the release of MDaemon 3.0 in the year 2000 and is necessary to continue developing and delivering industry-leading products. During those six years, MDaemon users have seen radical innovation and improvement. Some of the changes available now and on the way in MDaemon 9.0 include:

• Multiple antispam and security tools such as spam filtering, heuristic learning, white lists, black lists, integrated SpamAssassin, DomainKeys, DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), account-specific white lists, IP screening, tarpitting, strong passwords, SSL support, SMTP authentication and more...
• Groupware functions for shared calendars, messages and contacts, plus a free/busy server for scheduling.
• Contact synchronization between MDaemon and the address books for Windows, Outlook and Outlook Express.
• Mobile connectivity support including folder sharing for the PocketPC, content formatting for mobile devices and support for PIM data synchronization through an integrated SyncML server.
• Administration tools such as integrated WebAdmin, Active Directory monitoring, queue management and custom plug-in support.

RelayFax has also been upgraded with multiple features such as complete Brooktrout support, global scheduling controls, groupware address integration, DTMF routing, automated billing codes, automatic routing to email addresses, PDF file support, PDF encryption and options for resending pages. Until the March release of MDaemon 9.0, you can purchase new licenses and upgrade protection at current prices.

Gateway Licensing Change

MDaemon 9.0 also will see a change in the number of gateways available for the various license levels. The maximum gateway count will now be equal to the number of email accounts for a license. This means if you have a 6-account license, you can create 6 gateways. This change meets the requirements of small users and provides equitable licensing for gateway hosting enterprises.

MDaemon 9.0 and Outlook Connector 2.1

MDaemon 9.0 will be released along with Outlook Connector 2.1. With Outlook Connector, users of Outlook can share contacts, calendars, messages and more by using MDaemon as their email server. Pre-release information is available for both products:
